2nd ACEO - Macaw

Another brightly coloured bird - this time a macaw - in pencil straight onto card stock.

Really really enjoyed this one and love how it turned out.

Think I might be getting the hang of these mini pictures! ;-)

Weekly Drawing Thread Sept 25th - Oct 1st 2006

Quite a fun picture this week - a load of eggs on some material!

Enjoyed doing it, especially the fabric and I think the folds and shadows came out well.

The shape of a couple of the eggs are off, but I'm pleased!

My First ACEO - Toucan

Today I felt inspired to try again at doing an ACEO card, possibly to sell on eBay. And to my grand surprise it turned out really well!

Simply coloured pencil straight onto the ACEO card.

The blue background could be better, but I don't know how to get rid of that pencil stroke effect.

Kev on the Terrace

Here is the one decent sketch I did while away in Spain. It's my boyfriend Kev reading on the patio.

I had to alter the brightness and contrast in photoshop because it didn't scan very well.

I was really pleased with how it turned out actually because I've not drawn a side view of a face for a long time, and I think the likeness is there. Even Kev thought it came out ok!

Off on Holiday!

Well I'm off to Spain tomorrow for a week or sea, sun and relaxation!

Hoping to keep up the drawing while I'm away. I bought a brand new A5 sketchbook to take with me so I'll have no excuses!

If I do manage to sketch anything I'll post it here!

Michael Douglas

Spent another few hours on the earlier posted sketch of Michael Douglas. I think it's finished.

Pretty pleased with how it turned out. It sort of looks like him which is a good start! :)

Weekly Drawing Thread Sept 4-10 2006

It was a really tough challenge this week. I can't say I enjoyed it at all. But I did it and this is the finished drawing.

In coloured pencil on cartridge paper.

Really not pleased with the bottom of the glass but I couldn't get the spheres right. And the green mass in the middle was tough too, but I suppose a challenge is good for you!

A Quick Sketch - Michael Douglas

I started this sketch just out of the blue because I felt the urge.

It's Michael Douglas from Falling Down. Not going too badly, but needs a lot of work.

Weekly Drawing Thread Aug 28 Sept 4 2006

I was a bit late on the draw with this one!

I found it really difficult, especially getting the bowl to look 3-D. Just couldn't get the curve of it right.

I'd also chosen to try it out in charcoal instead of my usual pencil so that took a bit more work as well.

Not overly keen on the finished product but it was a constructive challenge!
